If you have little teaching experience but would like to train others to perform life-saving skills like basic life support, automated external defibrillation (AED), or administering first aid, you can participate in an ECSI Instructor Development Course (IDEC). This course covers topics such as teaching methodologies, complying with ECSI Policies and procedures, following course objectives, and conducting skills practice sessions. The purpose of this course is to assist training providers and their teaching staff in organizing and introducing new training courses, or in enhancing, updating or supplementing existing training material, so that the quality and effectiveness of the training courses may thereby be improved. It is not the intention of this course program to present instructors with a rigid “teaching package, which they are expected to “follow blindly”. Nor is it the intention to substitute the instructor’s presence with audio-visual or programmed material. As in all training endeavors, the knowledge, skills and dedication of the instructors are the key components in the transfer of knowledge and skills to those being trained through the courses. We evaluate all instructors. The Instructor Course is designed by Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI) and AG Specialty Services is responsible for Quality Control of their training center.
